Forensic Science Leadership Camp

Forensic Science will be my college major and my career path. The National Student Leadership Conference will give me hands on experience to further my knowledge. There we will meet with forensic professionals  from the FBI, West Virgina University, and other mortuary professions. We will work on crime scene simulations, blood spatter, skeletal identification, footwear and tread impressions, and other workshops such as fingerprinting and DNA analysis. Leadership topics are tailored to the forensic science field and include public speaking, group dynamics, conflict resolution, and stress and time management. While in Washington D.C., we will see sites that are both sightseeing experiences and educational trips such as Maryland State Forensic Medical Center, the Smithsonian Institution, Capitol Hill, and Historic D.C. Monuments at Night. 

The money raised will go toward the remainer of my tuition, $2,995. I put up $500 from my saving to register; my parents have promised $1000. The conference is at American University in Washington D.C. however, travel expenses are not included.  I've estimated approximately $600 for travel. Incidentals and insurance are estimated at about $400.

This would be a phenomenal experience and I would love to participate. The knowledge gained through this experience will set me apart from other college applicants and hopefully open up the doors to many college scholarships.
