3 C Heros

My name is Crystal and my sisters Cirsten and Caitlyn and I (The 3 C's) are setting up this page to help raise money for my parents.  Two things are happening in our family at this moment. My Mom, (Loriann) who you see in the picture sitting in the wheel chair, has been fighting stage 4 kidney cancer since her diagnosis in January of 2014. We really did not think she would make it past her surgery in May but she did and she is still fighting. The surgery removed her right kidney and,  believe it or not, a 6.5 pound tumor. She still has cancer in the lymph nodes of her abdomen and her left shoulder. She completed 20 radiation treatments and takes an oral chemo drug on a daily basis. If you know anything at all about cancer treatment, you know that these drugs and her treatments are both very expensive and the doctors are telling us that she will continue to fight for the rest of her life. In other words, she will either die from the cancer or continue to live the life she has now--a brave but constant cancer fight. We know that either way, our Mom is our hero and she always will be a source of constant strength for our Dad and for us. 

On top of my mom's cancer fight, our dad (Scott) is now beginning doctor's appointments for a hip replacement. Our dad is a truck driver and has been since 1986. Dad's driving over the past 28 years has caused some major arthritis in his right hip and it now has to be replaced. The plan had been to do the hip in 2014 but Mom's cancer changed that. They are now moving forward with appointments to schedule the surgery sometime in 2015. So, we will be helping our Dad recover from this surgery sometime in February or March. This means that in addition to Mom being off work and continuing to fight her cancer, Dad will also be off work for around 8 weeks recovering from his hip replacement. Dad's recovery and rehabilitation will be short compared to Mom's cancer fight but he will have to be off of work for at least 8 weeks. Finances will be incredibly tight and will be a constant concern for both parents unless we get some additional help.  The love that we see between our parents is just amazing and both are heroes to us.
