Please help our family help ReRe.
Rachel, known by most as ReRe, was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2002, fifteen years after losing her mother to the same horrible disease. She had a double mastectomy and went through all of the chemo treatments so that she could continue to be a blessing to her family and friends. She was into remission for 11 years before it came back. And when it came back, it came back aggressive. She has fought cancer in her lungs, bones, liver, pancreas and has it in her adrenal glands. She has undergone multiple treatment options including chemo, radiation and even a holistic approach. She has fought until she has no more strength to fight.
ReRe is a nurse at heart. She was in the nursing field for over 25 years until she took an early retirement to spend more time with her kids. She has always been the one who took care of everyone else. She has been the family nurse, teacher, counselor and prayer warrior. When in need, go ask ReRe. She was just recently forced to resign from her position as the Women’s Ministry Director because of the latest bout with cancer. A position she used to help countless women through numerous battles over the years. I can’t put a number on how many hearts she has blessed throughout the years, but I know there were many.
To know ReRe is to love ReRe. Her personality, her charisma and her positive attitude are infectious. She brightens every room she enters. Even when she is at MD Anderson getting treatments (and is at her worst) she often seeks out others fighting the same battle and she will go sit by them and give them hope. She is a true light, God’s light! And she will continue to be because cancer doesn’t “Rule” her, God does.
The money raised will go towards a treatment facility in Mexico called Hope4Cancer that will treat her emotionally, mentally and physically. They treat the problem, not the symptoms. Even though it is an expensive 3 week program that insurance won’t cover, It has an 85% success rate and we will take those odds so that our ReRe can kiss on her grand babies, both current and future.
****** 1 week update. ReRe has arrived at Hope4Cancer and is doing great!! Thank you Jesus! More good news, after talking with financial advisor, the cost was less than anticipated. We have decreased her goal to $49,500. WE CAN DO THIS! Bring ReRe home HEALED!!
If you can’t help financially, please help with prayers. Specific prayers! Pray for healing in all 3 phases( physically, mentally and emotionally). Pray for strength and pray especially that she will live to see her 12 year old daughter get married and have babies.
