"I Need a Liver - Hold the Onions!"

In 2016, we learned about  about Crypt-o-Genetic Liver Disease. At the age of 26, a father of a two year old, our friend Ronnie’s liver quit working for no apparent reason.  Crypt-o-genetic liver disease is rare. The liver becomes scarred and will not repair itself and eventually enters cirrhosis of the liver. This is a non alcohol related disease.

This condition can cause the vessels in the esophagus to bleed, and hemorrhage. Blood counts begin to go out of the normal range and anemia and digestive issues occur. Since the first diagnosis, this young man has spent numerous times in the hospital.  Coming close to losing his life due to hemorrhaging, luckily emergency procedures saved him each time. However, the last one was more severe and he was in critical care five days. Ronnie was in a coma and was left with permanent nephropathy damage, also known as foot drop.

He has endured a lot in the past two years. He is partially crippled, will need a brace, and will be put on the National Liver Transplant List.

Through it all, he is concerned about being a burden on his parents.  He is unable to work right now and is faced with many financial difficulties. Ronnie is hoping to be able to go back to work, but for right now he has no idea when or if it will possible.

Here’s a little insight to wonderful young man. He was diagnosed at the age of ten with Type 1 Juvenile-Diabetes.  He will give the last buck in his pocket to anyone in need and is always opening his heart to those in need. Ronnie has  a heart that will forgive anyone, sometimes even when undeserved. Although he is going through this rough patch, he is always thinking of others and how they may even have it worse then him.

Right now, the family could use a little help. He has weekly or even daily doctor appointments. The cost of medication and life’s daily expenses are adding up. Caring for his son, is his number one priority.
