" I Have A Story" short film

Fundraiser for ‘I Have A Story’, a short film by Artemisia’s Daughters and The Hebe Foundation.

 

 

Welcome everyone!

 

We are The Hebe Foundation and Artemisia’s Daughters, two London-based organisations who share a passion to equip young people, young girls in particular, with the tools to discover their skills and interests.

 

“I HAVE A STORY”:

Young people are increasingly feeling unheard in society today. Despite the many modes of communication available, they are struggling to be understood, which often leads to feelings such as abandonment, anger, misunderstood and unloved.

Young people have a voice, and want to use it effectively.  For the past 9 months we have been working with a group of talented young women and men between the ages of 14 -20yrs to develop a story inspired by their lived experiences, their diverse cultures, and what matters to them as youth in this society. The intention is to bring it to life in the form of a short film. 

The project’s main objective is to empower the marginalised youth voices, whilst providing them with new skills by introducing the young people involved to various roles in film production and give them the opportunity to shadow members of the crew during filming. 

 

Our goal is to have a short film that will be seen at film festivals, telling these young people’s stories as well as giving them the experience of participating in the film’s creation.

 

 

 

WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT:

Our plan is to shoot the short film at the end of July 2022  this year on location in South London.

There are various costs involved in film production. We will be asking for as many favours as possible for support, however there are still prosaic costs that need to be taken care of.

Inspired by Sarah Gavron’s feature film “Rocks” (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9067182/), we plan to hire as many female filmmakers as possible.

To encourage young women to pick up a camera or sound boom, it’s important they see women in those positions.

WHO WE ARE:

Founded in 2007, The Hebe Foundation is a Christian registered Youth Charity that works with young people to help them discover and use their talents whilst building the character to sustain their gifts. Young people aged 13 to 21 years are encouraged to participate irrespective of ethnicity, faith, ability or economic placement. Through quality projects throughout London, young people are able to experience opportunities they wouldn't normally have access to whilst gaining key life and employability skills.

 

Artemisia’s Daughters was co-founded by actress, writer and director Alexandra Boyd (alexandraboyd.co.uk), a UK filmmaker with a career spanning over thirty-five years. Her debut feature film, a supernatural thriller called “Widow’s Walk”, is currently on Amazon Prime. Coming up as an actress in film and television, she saw so few women doing jobs beyond hair, makeup and wardrobe. Creating Artemisia’s Daughters is her commitment to encouraging more women to become filmmakers in the myriad of departments that work in close collaboration to tell a story. She’s made several short films with young people - many of whom had never acted or experienced a film set before - and the outcome is always transformative for the participants.
