Sostieni anche tu questo progetto nato ad Awassa, una città dell’Etiopia.
Un gruppo di giovani locali ha deciso di trasformare un sogno in realtà: creare uno spazio che sia allo stesso tempo una palestra, un centro culturale e un punto di riferimento per il quartiere.
In un’area periferica con poche risorse e opportunità, stanno costruendo con le loro mani, e con grande determinazione, un luogo dove i giovani possano allenarsi, incontrarsi, mantenere vive le tradizioni artistiche, crescere e imparare.
Lo spazio c’è già, ed è frutto di mesi di lavoro, passione e collaborazione.
Chi sono
Mi chiamo Francesca e conosco personalmente i ragazzi che stanno lavorando al progetto.
Sono stata ad Awassa e ho potuto toccare con mano il grande lavoro di comunità che i/le ragazzi/e fanno.
Ora non posso essere lì fisicamente per aiutare, ma mi hanno chiesto una mano a distanza — e ora la chiedo anche a voi.
Cosa manca
Anche se tantissimo è già stato fatto, ci sono ancora ostacoli importanti da superare:
Il tetto e il pavimento non sono abbastanza resistenti per affrontare la stagione delle piogge
Mancano ancora alcuni materiali essenziali per rendere lo spazio davvero sicuro, funzionale e accogliente
Perché è importante
In un contesto dove spesso mancano alternative positive per i/le giovani, questo centro rappresenta una speranza concreta:
✅ promuove sport e salute
✅ rafforza il senso di comunità
✅ offre uno spazio per attività culturali, educative e ricreative
✅ mantiene vive le danze e le tradizioni culturali etiopi
✅ nasce dal basso, con l’impegno diretto di chi lo vivrà ogni giorno

Abbiamo bisogno del tuo aiuto per:
Completare i lavori strutturali (tetto e pavimento)
Acquistare i materiali mancanti
Rendere questo centro operativo e sicuro prima della prossima stagione delle piogge

Apoya este hermoso proyecto que nació en Awassa, una ciudad de Etiopía.
Un grupo de jóvenes locales ha decidido hacer realidad un sueño: crear un espacio que funcione como gimnasio, centro cultural y punto de encuentro para el barrio.
En una zona periférica con pocos recursos y oportunidades, están construyendo con sus propias manos, y con gran determinación, un lugar donde los jóvenes puedan entrenar, reunirse, mantener vivas las tradiciones artísticas, crecer y aprender.
El espacio ya existe, fruto de meses de trabajo, pasión y colaboración comunitaria.
¿Quién soy?
Me llamo Francesca y conozco personalmente a l@s chic@s que están llevando adelante este proyecto.
Estuve en Awassa y pude ver con mis propios ojos el increíble trabajo comunitario que están realizando.
Ahora no puedo estar allí físicamente para ayudar, pero me han pedido una mano a distancia — ¡y ahora te la pido también a ti!
¿Qué falta?
Aunque ya se ha hecho muchísimo, todavía hay obstáculos importantes que superar:
El techo y el suelo no son lo suficientemente resistentes para la temporada de lluvias
Aún faltan algunos materiales esenciales para que el espacio sea seguro, funcional y acogedor
¿Por qué es importante?
En un contexto donde muchas veces faltan alternativas positivas para l@s jóvenes, este centro representa una verdadera esperanza:
✅ promueve el deporte y la salud
✅ fortalece el sentido de comunidad
✅ ofrece un espacio para actividades culturales, educativas y recreativas
✅ mantiene vivas las danzas y tradiciones culturales etíopes
✅ nace desde abajo, con el compromiso directo de quienes lo usarán a diario
¿Cómo puedes ayudar?
Necesitamos tu ayuda para:
Terminar los trabajos estructurales (techo y suelo)
Comprar los materiales que faltan
Hacer que este centro esté listo y sea seguro antes de la próxima temporada de lluvias

Support this project born in Awassa, a city in Ethiopia.
A group of local young people decided to turn a dream into reality: creating a space that is both a gym, a cultural center, and a vital meeting point for the neighborhood.
In a peripheral area with few resources and opportunities, they are building this space with their own hands, and with great determination, creating a place where young people can train, gather, keep artistic traditions alive, grow, and learn.
The space already exists — it’s the result of months of hard work, passion, and community collaboration.
About me
My name is Francesca, and I personally know the amazing young people behind this project.
I’ve been to Awassa and witnessed firsthand the inspiring work they’re doing together.
Now I can’t be there in person to help — but they’ve asked for support from afar, and I’m passing that request on to you.
What’s still needed?
Although so much has already been done, there are still some key challenges to overcome:
The roof and floor are not strong enough to withstand the rainy season
Some essential materials are still missing to make the space safe, functional, and welcoming
Why this project matters?
In a context where young people often lack positive alternatives, this center is a true beacon of hope:
✅ promotes health and physical activity
✅ strengthens community bonds
✅ provides a space for cultural, educational, and recreational activities
✅ keeps traditional Ethiopian dances and cultural heritage alive
✅ is built from the ground up, with the direct involvement of those who will use it daily
