I am my mother's daughter...

Family is important...everyone is family to Mom. Besides her own immediate family, Mom welcomed relatives, my traveling soccer teams, volleyball teams and family friends into her home when they needed a place to stay, yearned for home cooking or just needed to rest. She taught me to be generous, comforting and compassionate to those in need. My Dad always told me, "If it was her last $50 and you needed it, she would gladly give it to you". If you needed her, she rarely said "no".  Mom's loving arms always comforted you when no one else would.

Now, Mom needs her family as she faces a fight with an unexpected diagnosis that is terminal. Pancreatic cancer is quick, relentless and painful for a woman who has always made it her goal to comfort others. Time is precious and fleeting, but Mom is determined to spend quality time with all her family. Some of us live great distances but want to comfort and support Mom for as long as time allows. Loving care, warmth and companionship are what we can provide for Mom as she "...fights the good fight". Your kind and generous contributions will allow some of us to travel so we can surround Mom with all who love and cherish her. These funds will also allow us to gift Mom with incidentals that might be out of her financial reach such as safety improvements to her home, added security in her home and surroundings, as well as comfortable and solid seating for her fragile frame. Mom's generosity has always extended to immediate family but has also reached her friends, church community, strangers in need and anyone who came to her for assistance. At this time more than ever, we can all come together and show Mom the love and support she has always provided to others.

If a monetary contribution is not possible, there are so many other ways to comfort Mom during this time. If you can share air miles or  a companion ticket, that would be so appreciated! Also, sending cards, a brief, planned visit or something as simple as lighting candle or a quick prayer comforts Mom. It means so much to Mom knowing she is remembered.

Thank you in advance for any way you can support and comfort Mom!
