Logan Pantall has lived with his father Rylan Pantall his whole life. When Logan was 2 1/2 his parents split up and his mother took him for 45 days. She brought him to Rylan for a two week visit at that point, but never returned, leaving Rylan to raise his son on his own. Since then she has only seen him for very occasional visits, Logan is nearly seven now. Rylan never stood in her way and encouraged her to be as much a part of Logan's life as possible. It also has been years since she offered any kind of child support. This summer he was to go for a visit for a month and was to come home two weeks before school starts Augest 14th. With no warning Rylan has just been served papers to terminate his rights just as he prepared for his sons return. There was a surprise party in the works and many plans being made as he has been quite missed even in just this month he has been away.
Rylan has done everything for this child. Anyone who has ever seen them together knows how close he and Logan are and what an amazing and dedicated father he has been.
He certainly doesn't want to keep Logan from seeing his mom on a regular basis, but naturally wants to keep his son with him in his home as the primary parent. His mother lives six hours away in the keys which is where she filed the papers and where we need to get a lawyer. This is proving to be expensive, and may result in losing time at work as well further exacerbating the financial stress this will put on him and his family.
Having not been prepared for these surprise expenses, which are coming just as we have been gearing up for the upcoming school year we have no way at this point to get Rylan down there or pay for an attorney. We have spent every waking minute since getting this news trying to figure this out.
Asking for help in this way does not seem ideal and is not something we would normally do, in no way do we want to burden others with our problems, but the reality of the situation is we have very limited time and little in the way of options. Anything that anyone could do to help would be more appreciated than we are capable of expressing.
