Supporting the Vasquez family

Jorge is back with his family after his hearing last week!  Even though immigration desired for Jorge to remain in detention, the judge intervened by recounting the work the Lord has done in Jorge's life and offered bail at a favorable amount.  Now that Jorge is back at home, he can continue to fight this deportation from the outside, as these procedures can carry on for multiple years.  Because Jorge was removed from his family and his job for the last 6 months, he is now looking to re-establish his career and to provide for his family.

Many of you have asked how you can be of help to them.  If you would like to help the family bridge this transition period, we've decided to increase the target amount and bring these recent needs to your attention.

Sincerely,

Patrick Ku and Mike Riccardi

Hi everyone,

The Vasquez family is currently enduring a very challenging trial and could use our support.

As many of you know, several weeks ago, Jorge was pulled over by immigration law enforcement on his way to work. He was immediately put into a detention facility about an hour and a half away in Adelanto. Fifteen years ago, while still an unbeliever, Jorge was arrested and pled guilty to a drug felony in the state of Tennessee. He served 8 months in prison. But while in prison, by the grace of God, his heart and life were completely transformed by the Gospel. It was through this trial that the Lord saved him.

Since then, Jorge put his past life behind him and has devoted himself to his family, his church, and his community. He has served as a deacon of Grace Community Church for several years, as a Bible study shepherd in GraceLife, and he’s been actively involved in local jail ministry. Through this prison outreach, Jorge has offered guidance to those who find themselves now where he once was. In addition, Jorge and his family have joyfully served and invested their lives into their church family and various other outreach ministries.

Jorge is the sole provider for his wife and 5 (soon-to-be 6 in October) children. As he faces deportation to Honduras and continues his search for legal representation, it is possible for this process to carry on for the next 5 months. During this time, we have the opportunity to come alongside him and his family and support them by contributing to their living expenses, as well as to any legal representation they might obtain. Grace Church is also committed to helping from the Deacon’s Fund, but it is likely that expenses will be great enough to ensure that any help you can give will be much needed and appreciated. Anything you can contribute will be a blessing.

Thank you so much for your consideration and your prayers.

Sincerely,
