Kerry's Fight

We met Kerry in October 2018, at the time Kerry was ready to start intensive treatment for stage 3 breast cancer, at the age of 45. Now Kerry is a fighter, just 10 years ago Kerry lost her husband Chris, the father of her two beautiful boys. This is a heartbreak no one, let alone two young boys should have to go through.
Now re-married to her amazing husband George, her two boys are all grown up aged 18 and 21. They are now having to see their beautiful mum battle an even harder fight...
After 5 months of intensive chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery Kerry was told in June 2019 the cancer had cleared. Now August 2019, just two short months later Kerry received the most gut-wrenching news, the cancer was back and it has metastasized and is now in her lung and liver.
I spoke to Kerry, and it tore at my heart as a mother myself and I just feel that there needs to be more done to help this beautiful soul. I was listening to Kerry and I could hear her breaking while telling me she has been organising her affairs and her funeral so her family don't have to do it when she is gone, and feel the pressures of organising a funeral as she had to for her late husband. Kerry had been told that there was no more that could be done and all they could do is try and buy her time.
After more test, Kerry has been told by her oncologist that she qualifies for a new recognised treatment called immunotherapy. Unfortunately this is not covered by PBS and is her only chance of fighting this horrible disease.
As you would know sickness causes so much financial stress not only within the family home but with all the medical bills. I am hoping that we can all pull together whether family, friends or complete strangers to help Kerry win her fight.
Please help us help Kerry, run another triathlon, have more Christmas days with her family, walks on the beach, share laughter with her husband and make many more memories.
