Costa Rica Community Service Trip

Costa Rica: El Sendero

My name is Emily Rose Mandaville and I am currently raising money to volunteer in Costa Rica over the summer of 2015 through a program called The Road Less Traveled. Considering that it is a very expensive program, I can't afford the trip all on my own. I currently have a job and am fundraising enthusiastically in order to gather the funds necessary for the trip ($4,985 plus airfare and other expenses). 

As an avid adventurer and humanitarian, this trip is my dream. I have moved 19 times in my 16 years, and sometimes I think I was born right in the doorway. My heart is constantly yearning for the spectacular thrill of a trip to somewhere new. Every breath of life is a gift, and I think it is so important to take every moment and milk it for all that it is worth. I have always dreamed of using the life I was given to explore entire world. 

The trip is a 19 day expedition in the heart of the Costa Rican jungle and will include 72-80 hours of community service during the weekdays and on the weekends, I will be rafting, hiking, surfing, and ziplining. I believe that this trip is perfect because I will learn so much and have the time of my life, but I will also be giving back to the local community. I will be repairing homes, learning spanish, and teaching english to the locals with a group of other kids with the same goals and dreams that I have.
