Hywel's Paris Marathon Run for Alzheimer's Society
On the 5th of April, I will be running the Paris Marathon, which signals my first ever official race other than the occasional Parkrun. I’ve decided to run the race for Alzheimer’s Society, a charity which holds real personal significance. Misconceptions often surround Dementia, as a disease which strictly affecting the elderly, but It can affect individuals as young as 30. Last year my grandmother was diagnosed aged 88, and during my time at university, a friend’s father was diagnosed, still a young man. After seeing first-hand, the effect it has on a whole family, witnessing a person you love slowly disappear, I’ve decided to raise money for Alzheimer’s society, to fund research, and fight this horrible disease.
