We're 15 and 16 year old transition year students in Mount Saint Michael Secondary School , Rosscarbery, Co.Cork, Ireland. Our goal is to travel to Nepal to take part in a volunteer project helping childrens in schools and orphanages in Kathmandu, Nepal.
During our time in Kathmandu we will be renovating schools, running craft lessons with younger kids and providing general support to the teachers. A focus will be our becoming as involved with the community as possible.
Projects Abroad is a leading volunteer organisation. Working with local people in every continent, projects are selected based on informed local knowledge.
We first became aware of the need for assistance in Nepal while at primary school when a charity worker visited and told us about the work he was carrying out in Kathmandu. It became clear that one person can make a big difference. Having met someone who participated with Projects Abroad before, we were both convinced this was an experience we wanted to have and that it would benefit others as well as ourselves.
We selected Care and Community programme because we're both interested in future professions working with children. If successful in raising the necessary money we will be flying out on June 13th 2015 and spending two weeks working with locals to meet their community needs.
In addition to our GoFundMe Campaign we are holding local fund raising events which we will update you about as they arise. Fund raising needs to be completed by March 2015 and if we do not succeed in raising the full amount we will be donating all monies raised to Projects Abroad.
Thanks so much for your consideration and please feel free to share widely via social media.
