Hylton Richard Parkinson Jr., age 59, of Stone Mountain, Georgia passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Emory University Hospital Midtown, Atlanta, Georgia, battling cancer.

Hylton (known to some as "JR", "Junior", "G I Moko", "Bowlegged-Lou") was a charismatic, loving, generous, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend who excelled in mechanical engineering.  His passion to repair, fix, take things apart and put them back together, tinker with stuff started early wherever he was: St. Peter's Lutheran Elementary School, Cathedral School, St. Patrick's High School, Monrovia, Liberia; Kodaikanal International School, Tamil Nadu, India; Civil Aviation Training Center, Bangkok, Thailand; and Prairie View A&M University of Texas.

Hylton leaves behind his son Erik Jemal; daughter Selena Marie; grandson Kamryn; mother Johnetta; brothers Jerome II and Alvin Sr; sisters Elvira and Maisie; uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives in the U.S., Liberia and other parts of the world.  May his soul rest in eternal peace.

The Parkinson family is being assisted by Georgia Cremation, 3570 Buford Highway, Duluth.  A Memorial Service was held for Hylton on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Crossroads Bible Church, 3466 Covington Hwy, Decatur, Georgia 30032.  Our heartfelt thanks to you Pastor Palmer and The Elders of Crossroads and to Rev Albert N. Nebo Jr., for a very beautiful Memorial Service, followed by refreshments and for genuinely caring and blessing us during our loss.  We will always remember this.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hylton Parkinson Memorial GoFundMe account in his memory for his children and grandchild.  We, the Parkinson family, are raising funds to help support Hylton's son, daughter, and grandchild during this very difficult time.  Hylton had cancer and was not eligible for life insurance.  His wish for his two children and grandchild is to invest in their educational expenses so Erik and Selena can continue their education and to support Kamryn's future education.  Nothing can fill the loss of Hylton but we can help to ease some of their financial burdens that surely is ahead for his son, daughter, and grandchild.  Please keep them in your prayers.

The Parkinson family is humbled by the outpouring of support and wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, prayers, concern, and kindness shown to them.  Thank you and God Bless.
