Hyland Family House Fire Fund

Tykee Hyland is participating in the Generation Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program in Wilmington, DE. On March 25, 2018, his family’s home was burned to the ground. Tykee’s younger brother jumped out a second-floor window and is having surgery on his leg at A.I. Dupont. Tykee’s 11-month nephew, as well as his grandmother, have passed away. His 3-month-old nephew is in critical condition. The house is completely destroyed with everything inside. He has only the clothes on his back.

Tykee came to class the morning after the fire where he was met with hugs, tears, and words of support from his classmates and the DelTech workforce development staff who heard about his horrific ordeal.  Everything of value is gone, including the items essential for his new chosen profession, like scrubs, shoes, his stethoscope, and books.

Though his thoughts were clearly elsewhere, his instructors and mentors, Ms. Donna and Mr. Victor, encouraged him to take his state board exams just one day after the fire. Tykee passed the skills portion of the state test, allowing him to continue with the program and complete his CNA training.

Tykee is in dire need of everything including personal care items, clothes, shoes, shelter, funeral costs, and much more. In Tykee's new profession, he will be taking care of others. Please consider taking care of him and make a donation to this hard-working, dedicated student and exemplary young man.
