Fight COVID19, Stay Strong CANADA

Almost 20,000 cases...   #StayStrongCanada

Amidst the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare professionals are working against the clock to treat patients and save as many lives as possible. Hospitals are running low on medical supplies and devices. The Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) has launched a petition for every healthcare professional screening or treating suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patients to have access to proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

Protecting frontline healthcare workers is protecting ourselves. With proper PPE, they will stay safe and therefore be able to continue to take care of our community. In order to help bring these critical items to those who need them most urgently, we are raising funds to get desperately needed PPE and ventilators for the hospitals in Ottawa. The relief efforts also help address the mental health needs of affected families in the National Capital Region and the larger community around COVID-19 fears.

Dear friends, let’s spread love and support.❣️❣️❣️It’ll get worse before it’s getting better, but we’ll go through this by pulling together and looking after each other!!

About the fundraiser:

Wuhan University Alumni Association of Ottawa (WUAAO) is a non-profit organization of Wuhan University alumni based in Ottawa. With members having pursued studies in Wuhan, ground zero of the COVID-19 pandemic, WUAAO is committed to the coronavirus relief efforts for Canada, the country they now call home.

To ensure the highest standard of accountability, the fundraiser recruited a team of dedicated volunteers in charge of every aspect of the relief efforts — fundraising, accounting, procurement, transportation and communications. It has established direct contact with the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, The Ottawa Hospital and other hospitals in the National Capital Region. It confirms with the hospitals that the medical supplies to be purchased meet the needs of the frontline healthcare workers. The fundraiser accounts for the prompt procurement and transportation of medical supplies directly to the hospitals through tested and proved logistical channels. In the interest of transparency, it reports the fundraising progress every week via social media platforms such as Facebook, GoFundMe, Twitter, the CFC website and Health Times.
