Motherless Children

Happy Easter! This is a week to celebrate miracles and to be grateful for what we have, even in tough times.  I have a request, but first need to share why it is so important to me to help this family. For those of you that do not know my sister and I, lost our mother at 18 & 15yrs old.  It was challenging to live without her, feeling alone, no mother or father discovering the world by trial and error. Though my journey has been hard it has always been blessed with special aunts and many beautiful people that have become my friends and family, lighten our way. . The worst thing as a child is to feel loss and not have hope.  God has truly blessed me in my journey.  When I heard this families story it really touched my heart. Through my job I have had the pleasure of getting to know Kaibeh "Dorbor"Broh and her family. She works incredibly hard every day to be able to take care of her family in MN and sends money to her sister's sweet family back in Liberia.

I asked Kaibeh why do you work so much? She told me the very heart wrenching story of her youngest sister Varbah Dorbor. Varbah had 3 children, Prince 12, Lydia 6, and Venus 4. She was a single mother dealing with a deadly illness that recently took her life. 2 months later the father of the children also died, leaving them without a family. To save these kids from going to an orphanage, a beautiful Godly neighbor "Siah Bundoo " stepped up to take them in until Kaibeh can arrive.   Kaibeh needs to adopt the children to bring them to the U.S. to live with her.  An Attorney here in MN says it will cost $30,000 just to process the adoption paper work, not including travel and lodging.

It breaks my heart to think these 3 children are all alone without family, facing an orphanage, along with the huge loss of their parents. Kaibeh has been sending money for their care but she needs to fly over there and petition the courts to let her adopt them. She will need to leave her job to stay in Liberia, for as long as it takes through Covid 19, and wait for the courts to grant her custody to fly them all back here and keeping her home and daughter safe while she is gone.  Kaibeh takes care of older adults as a PCA that are ill and dying and it breaks my heart to think she could lose those kids because of circumstance.  We are so blessed to live in the most amazing country where opportunity is everywhere.  Please consider giving as much as you possible can, even if that is only a dollar.  They would appreciate anything you can offer. It is holy week, and we all need to make a difference in our world, even if you do not have the money, please offer your time to help to someone else in need.  I would love to make a miracle happen for this sweet family that expects nothing. Let us give them a family member to raise them so they feel like they are home again.

Thank you in advance Shannon Johnston, God Bless you.
