Pastor Christine's Memorial Fund

In Remembrance of a Loving woman and an encouraging Pastor from our local Westside church of San Antonio, I.D.C.C.  Thanksgiving for most is a time to share with your loved ones what you are thankful for. For one family this joyous holiday, came with some heartache. Pastor Christine Gonzales (age 41) lost her battle to stage4 lung cancer. She leaves behind a loving husband, Pastor Antonio Gonzales and their 5 year old son, Antonio Gonzales Jr. This family has been serving the community and especially the Westside of San Antonio to follow in the word of the lord since 2004. Their mission and vision for the church are two concrete verses from the bible in which they built the foundation of their church on. Over the last 10 years Pastor Antonio and Christine have given people in the community opportunities they may not have otherwise had, from supplying families with school supplies and clothing, to host an annual Thanksgiving dinner that has fed thousands over the years. They are very selfless people always seeing the good in a person and giving their all to help others. In this time of turmoil they are the ones in need of a lending hand now. With the costs of cancer treatment and hospital expenses Pastor Antonio is left with only faith, that the community he and his wife have strived to enrich will understand the true meaning of Thanksgiving and give back. All proceeds will go towards funeral costs and medical bills.

The holidays are just around the corner. For many this is a time for sharing, showing your loved ones how much they mean, and giving to others with an open heart and an altruistic will. Losing a loved one is never easy, especially are the holiday season and when they were your best friend and wife. Though Pastor Christine has left our sight she has not left our hearts. My wish is that her belief in the community continues and that the love she shared for so many people is valued and shared amongst the individuals she touched. This year is going to be a more emotional year for Pastor Tony. Though it will be an emotional time, I feel this is an opportunity for the community to support Pastor, baby T, and his loved ones. I also believe this is an opportunity for Pastor to continue to demonstrate true faith and strength within his beliefs, to ensure that his son enjoys the holidays. Pastor Tony has always been able to give to the community throughout the years, but more specifically during the holiday season. I think it is time that we all put ourselves in his giving and loving spirit and let’s make sure that Pastor Tony and baby T. have as a delightful Christmas this year as they have in the past.
