My Volunteer Trip to Ghana Africa

In June of 2017, I took my first trip to Ghana, Africa with a non-profit organization called Global Rescue Project. Our mission while in Ghana is to rescue children who have been sold into slavery, and sex-trafficked. On the side, we work at the orphanage where these children go when they are rescued. Currently there are ninety orphans that have been rescued, who live at the orphanage. When we travel to Ghana, with us we bring items for these orphans such as clothes, shoes, food, sheets, towels, etc.. And most importantly, we bring love; lots of love.

Going into this, I had no idea what to expect. Little did I know that this trip to Ghana would change my entire life. For the longest time I had felt like I had lost my purpose. I was just going through the motions of everyday life. But I felt like a part of me was missing. Shortly into my trip, I found that piece of me that I was missing- serving others and being selfless. I was put here to be a voice for those who don’t have a voice.

These orphans do not have a mom or a dad, so they crave a deep love that, unfortunately they don't receive. I have never felt a love like what I felt when I was in Ghana, and never before had I been able to give the love that I was able to give while in Ghana. I did not know a love like this is possible. My love for theses kids in unconditional. Not a day goes by that I do not think of these kids in Ghana. I long for the day that I get to hold them in my arms again.

My job in Ghana is far from over, being that there are still 6,500 children enslaved. These kids need my help. By the grace of God, I hope to return to Ghana in June 2018 to continue my mission of rescuing these children. I don’t ask for help often, but a trip of this significance is very costly. Ghana is something I am very passionate about and so I am reaching out for help. It costs me $4,200 to be able to travel to Ghana and do the work that I do. My hope that that I am able to get some financial help to continue my work. Please consider donating to me so that I can get back to Ghana, and serve this village like I was called to do.
