Kay Harmon's Medical Fund

Kay Harmon (daughter to Regina Baillio and sister to Jenni Vega and Mike Castillon) was in a very serious car accident in Washington Parish on Tuesday, November 25th.  While on her way to work that morning, Kay lost control of her vehicle in a dangerous curve on Highway 16.  The pictures of her car and description of the accident from people on the scene have confirmed what we knew already - God had his hand on Kaylynn because it is a sheer miracle that she is still with us.  After hitting a culvert, going airborne, and then ramming a large oak tree, the car is completely destroyed.  After having to be cut out of the car, Kay was airlifted to the Trauma Center at NorthOaks Hospital in Hammond.
As a result of the accident, Kay has sustained several broken bones including broken femur, shoulder, and a vertebrae in her neck.  On Tuesday evening she underwent a five-hour surgery to repair the shoulder and femur as well to install a halo for the neck injury.  While all of those injuries are terrible and the recovery is anticipated to be very long and painful, we are so grateful that no internal damage was done or any permanent damage such as paralysis.  The seven doctors who are treating her are amazed as well, but we know why - God's divine hand!
While we hate to reach out and ask for help (we are quite a bunch of independent women!!), we are realizing more and more each day that Kay will need help throughout this recovery.  As of now, we know that she will spend a great amount of time in the hospital and then spend several weeks (at least) in a rehabilitation hospital.  After that, the physical therapy and possible follow-up surgeries will be long and expensive.  Also, due to the injuries from the accident, she will be out of work for an extended amount of time.  While she does have medical insurance, the additional expenses will be huge.  If you could by any chance help, I know she would (and her family) would appreciate it so much.
More than anything, we covet your prayers as she begins the long process of recovery.
