Support Carol's Recovery

I have been blessed by many when a friend of mine started a GoFundMe for myself, so I thought I would give this a try for someone who means the world to me.

Most of you already know me, I'm Zach! I have two younger siblings, Glenn and Carol.

My sister has been battling a terrible addiction for two years now and sadly, HEROIN has ruined her life... It has not only affected her but our whole family.

Working in the ER I constantly worry that when the ambulance phone rings and there's a 20-something female overdose, it could possibly be my sister. I live in constant fear and anxiety as does my family...

Last year she checked herself into a rehab facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, but sadly relapsed shortly after her thirty day stay.

Carol is a BEAUTIFUL young woman with a perfect smile and the personality of a superstar. She could conquer the world if she wanted to. She takes after her mother like that. :-) She was once one of the most outgoing people I know and still has a heart of gold. This girl would do anything for anyone!

Growing up, of course, we had our ups and downs, but more recently in our adult years we have become very close. I would have, a couple years ago, considered her one of my best friends. She always made me laugh and always knew what to say. She was perfect. We could talk about anything, share secrets, and we're always there for each other.

Things have changed dramatically for us these past couple years, I've watched that brilliant smile slowly fade away... That superstar personality is no longer there. There's no real conversation. She's either up or she's down and there's no in between. It hurts me deeply.

Unfortunately her father and brother are not very supportive because they haven't lived with it nor do they really want to understand it. It would only take watching ONE season of "Intervention" to really know what it's like to live with an addict. I actually encourage ALL OF YOU to watch the show. It will change your perspective and really help you to better understand the situation/lifestyle we live having an addict in our family. Almost every episode makes me cry because I think of my baby sister.

It hurts me to watch as my family suffers as well. I can see how this effects my mother and it tears me apart... We were all so very close. I often cry reminiscing of the good old days when we would laugh, joke and jus do the silliest of things (ride down Main Street with all of our windows down blasting some crazy loud DubStep nonsense). LOL

Her bright BIG beautiful eyes have gone... She is now like an empty shell and it seems like all she can think of is how and when she will get her next fix, which cost somewhere between $45 and $70 per day. Without a job, the constant asking for money, $10 here, $20, there, pawning things, occasionally even stealing HURTS...

I think she just got mixed up with the wrong people and made some bad decisions as we all do at times.

Carol is in treatment right now in FT Lauderdale, Florida and has been clean for 40 days now... The problem is, her stay at this facility is almost over. I fear that if Carol comes back to Festus, I will be seeing her roll through that a ambulance bay with a tube down her throat and it might just be too late. I'm not trying to upset anyone by saying this but honestly, if she does not get away from these terrible people and this terrible place, it will be the death of her.

Carol and us, her family, would love for her to be able to stay in FT Lauderdale and join an IOP (Intensive Outpatient) program. She would still be involved in groups, she would be tested, she would have a wonderful support group, she could be able to work and better her life. SHE COULD HAVE A FUTURE

After insurance, this is going to cost roughly $16,000... There is no way we can afford this. Without insurance its approx $80,000.

While in IOP, Carol would like to get a part time job and transition, paying her way through sober living at which point she would be able to start working full time. She would love to start working with people who are just like she was, sponsoring and counseling.

The catch here is that the IOP wants the money upfront. If we cannot gather some funds in ten days, they're going to put her on a plan back to Festus...

I'm creating this for my sister, my best friend, my mothers daughter, and my grandparents granddaughter.

WE ALL WANT OUR BEAUTIFUL, SMART, & RIDICULOUSLY OUTGOING CAROL BACK!!!

Any donations would be greatly appreciated and would go directly toward keeping Carol in treatment. This is very important. Thank you all so much for reading my story and I hope you can find it in your heart to help my little sister.

I wouldn't even be asking if this wasn't some that Carol really wanted for herself. She knows she blew it the first time and REALLY wants to make a change. We have been hearing nothing but positive feedback from her counsellors these past several weeks.
