Hello, my name is Bonnie Gonzalez, and I am writing to see if you would be willing to help my son, Nick Covington, as he and his family face financial hardship.
Nick's wife, Amber, has been struggling with a lupus diagnosis and end stage kidney nephritis for the last several years and has been awaiting a kidney transplant. She requires intensive medical care to stay alive until she receives a new kidney, including dialysis 3 times per week and frequent emergency hospitalizations. Amber has currently been in the ICU since 11/13/23. She went in with shortness of breath and coded while waiting on treatment. They have now found her heart is only functioning at 20% capacity. Testing is being done to determine treatment regarding her heart.
Balancing supporting his wife and caring for their two middle-school-aged children, Nahla and Shakira, has been a struggle for Nick. He lost his job several months ago after missing work to tend to his family's needs. Shortly after, the family lost their only car due to mounting bills, making it extremely difficult for Nick to find another job to support his family. Living in the Catskills, where there are very limited public transportation options, having a car is essential for Nick to maintain a job and get to and from the hospital (which is 30 minutes away).
To help the Covington family during this difficult time, we are seeking your help to ease some of their stresses by providing them with the money to buy a used car and cover the first insurance payments and fuel costs. Any amount you are willing to contribute will make a difference. Passing this along to friends and family is also very much appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!
