Counselors headed to Nicaragua

Donation protected
Fairfield University’s Counselor Education Department is currently raising money to assist communities in Nicaragua in addressing the issue of domestic violence.

The graduate students participating in this program will be going to Nicaragua this summer to work with local community members and leaders to provide training and resources to several communities that have asked for help. Efforts to address the issue of domestic violence have sprung up from a grass roots level, and this group of graduate-level counseling students will work in collaboration with the New Haven/Leon Sister Cities Project, and our Nicaraguan partners to address the current needs of local communities.

We are fundraising now to support the travel of the dedicated students who require financial assistance to make this trip.  In addition, we are gathering supplies and creating resources that we can donate so that our efforts might result in a sustainable program.

We will be blogging about our experience along the way! Here’s hoping our journey will inspire others. Any donations are appreciated, and thanks for your support!
