Huston's Medical and Related Expenses

Donation protected
Huston is a 6th grade student at Wren Middle Schools and a member of the Wren Youth Association 12 & under football team. As many of you may know, Huston was injured in a tragic accident in the Wren High School parking lot while waiting for his ride home after his first day at Wren Middle. The funds raises will go towards Huston's medical expenses and other needs that his family may have in the coming months of his recovery. Below is the most current update that has been shared.

**UPDATE** (8/24)
Today has been a good day. They were able to take his other chest tube out. They lowered his settings on the ventilator. They took the EEG off. The neurologist came and talked with us about his EEG reading. He said he did see slight improvement from his last one but it did show moderate dysfunction. The real test will be tomorrow. They will be doing the MRI in the morning. He's been doing really well with recovering on his own from stimulation. Tonight, Todd was at bedside talking to him and he opened his eyes and looked right at him ❤. This is the first time we have seen him track with eyes. He actually looked at his Daddy!!! Our hearts are smiling. It was shortly after that Huston decided he wanted to show us the not so nice side of him. He was having his mouth cleaned when he clenched his fist and started biting the ET tube. He even had his mad face on. This episode lasted a little longer than they would like so they had to give him some medicine. But he let us know he was tired of being messed with! We ask that you pray tonight for his MRI to go smooth and that his neurological response is positive. Also pray that he will be able to get his breathing tube out with no complications. God continues to work in our sweet boy. He is showing us just how wonderful he is.

**UPDATE** (8/18)
Not too much of a change today. They weaned his sedation this morning to try and see if we could get any response from him. He did start running a slight fever and shivering so they had to turn his sedation back on because the shivering is bad for his body. They had to do a one time dose of a paralytic because his shivering didn't stop with just the sedation. They widened his antibiotics in case of an infection. He is more swollen today so they are going to put him on an ultrafiltration machine.. What that does is brings blood to the machine, it takes the water out of it and then replaces the blood back into his body. Hopefully this will take some of the fluid off of him and bring the swelling down. He did have an EEG, Echocardiogram, and ultrasound of his neck and extremities to check for blood clots. His EEG wasn't good, but wasn't bad. It didn't show and seizure activity which is a good thing. His echo of his heart looked good! They did find 2 blood clots in his right arm. Doctor didn't seem to concerned with where they are so he said they typically don't treat it. They did try to wean his sedation again this after noon and after a couple of hours he started to shiver again so they had to turn his sedation back on and also add another sedative called precedex. When they started the second sedation medication his Blood pressure dropped. They had to stop his sedatives and the filtration to get his BP back to normal. Tonight they stopped the precedex and are keeping him on just one sedation medication as long as he doesn't start to shiver. His vitals have been stable for the most part. They will take him back to surgery tomorrow to reopen his abdomen, clean it, and look to make sure his liver is still not bleeding.

-BIG NEWS-

Tonight as the doctor rounded. She did come in and pinch him and he opened his eyes so BIG!!! Also, as they were turning him to bath him, he started to open his eyes. We were able to talk to him and ask him to squeeze our hand and wiggle his toes and HE DID BOTH!!! We are so so proud of him. Huston is fighting this, God continues to show us just how powerful he is!! This is his timing, and he is writing Hustons Testimony! Please continue to pray, don't stop. They are working miracles. These are small but positive signs!! And we know its because of this powerful movement of support he has. Keep fighting baby boy, you've got this!. Please continue to pray for his care team. He has some pretty amazing people taking care of him. We are so grateful!!

“I normally don't post our business to Facebook but Many of you know what happened by now, Huston was ran over by a van in the school parking lot. He has suffered some serious injuries. He did code in the ambulance and they had to do CPR. They were able to get his heart beat back but could not get him intubated until he got to the hospital. He does have a pretty big laceration on his liver, multiple broken ribs, and his lungs are pretty banged up. They had to take him back to surgery and open his abdomen to pack his liver so it would stop bleeding. They also had to put him on ECMO to bypass his lungs because of his elevated CO2 levels and to let his lungs heal. They said that the next 24-48hrs are the most crucial. They do not have him on any sedation at this moment. They are hoping to see some response from him to try and wake up. He has opened his eyes briefly a couple times and he his breathing over the ventilator which is a great sign. God is working, your prayers are working. Please continue to pray for healing in our sweet boy. Please continue to pray for positive responses. We need ALL the prayers we can get so please continue to keep all of us in your thoughts and prayers as the next day or so will be very intense. Please pray for the treatment team taking care of him, Huston has a long ride ahead but we know he is going to pull through this!! We love you so much!!

If everyone could please STOP AND PRAY for our sweet Huston.. don't just type it out... stop what you're doing and ask God for complete healing over him. Pray for our family as we help him fight!! We love you sweet boy, you've got this!””

My nephew was in a terrible accident this afternoon on his first day of middle school.

He has already undergone one surgery and is now having a machine oxygenate blood out of his lungs.

There are a lot more concerns but I ask you in this moment to please pray that our amazing Father in heaven would help heal his lungs and allow them to work on his own so he can be moved to the cardiac floor next.

We are believing in the Power of our Father and ask you to please share this. Start a prayer chain. The next 12 hours are critical and we need this community to join us in prayer.
