Hi, my name is Melissa Velázquez and I am a Labor and Delivery nurse in Puerto Rico, currently my hospital is one of the few that are giving services to patients in our area. We are in Caguas and we cover the east and east-central part of the island, these families live in poverty and a lot of them has lost everything.
A few shifts ago I had a patient that had her first baby and didn't have a blanket for him because María destroyed her house, that's when I started thinking how I can help these moms to be and their newborns, I remembered the box that the Finland government give every family when they give birth, it has a mattress and they fill it out with all the essentials for a new baby and its safe for the baby to sleep in there! So I started to do a lot of research and after 2 days of back to back emails with companies finally Finnbin gave me the answer I was hoping, they are going to ship me 300 baby boxes with their mattresses and we are going to filled them up! 300 affected families will get a clean start for their newborns. My goal is to order a 1,000 and more, I want to reach out to every hospital in Puerto Rico but it all depends on your donations, so PLEASE, PLEASE, make me make this happen for them. ❤️
