Hurricane Relief for Honduran Activist Family
Donation protected
During Hurricane Eta massive flooding in La Lima, Cortés, Honduras, and the nearby suburbs of San Pedro Sula destroyed everything in the homes of my beloved extended family in Honduras. The flooding also destroyed the merchandise in the small store that supports much of the family. Some of them spent three nights on their roofs, as the government prevented boats from rescuing people.
This family been on the front lines of the resistance since day one of the 2009 coup. Now they are without water and electricity or any government or outside aid, trying to clean up six feet of poisonous brown sludge--all in the context of COVID, a destroyed health care system, and a repressive dictatorship from which hundreds of millions in COVID aid have disappeared.
These amazing people have have survived, and fought against so much--and for so much--their whole lives. They have nothing now. They will need to replace everything in their houses, including appliances, furnitures, electronic devices, clothes, you name it. The income for many has disappeared, along with the goods they planned to sell in the store. The store has been only recently partially opened, because of COVID restrictions. Money that people had carefully saved has been used up to survive the COVID shutdown.
They need money immediately. The government, meanwhile, is blocking aid from entering the country and requirng all foreign aid to flow through corrupt government agency widely established to be corrupt. The military lockdown/curfew continues. People are only allowed to circulate for two hours once a week, depending on their ID cards.
Any contribution, however small, would be superimportant.
THANKLS
