A Campaign to Restore Homes, Schools, and Futures
#OurFutureIsPromising | #TogetherWeRise | #RebuildBluefieldsbay

Dear Supporters,
My name is Amoya Roxborough. I currently live in London, UK, and I am fundraising for my Childhood Community- Auldayr District in Westmoreland, Jamaica, which was declared ground zero by Hurricane Melissa.

When the Storm Passed, Only Hope Remained
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”- Hebrews 11:1. On October 28, 2025, Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm, destroyed almost everything in Bluefields Bay, Jamaica. 95% of families lost their homes, and Schools collapsed. Power, water, and communication vanished overnight. Children and adults now live with fear and anxiety, their lives uprooted, and their sense of safety gone. The emotional toll is weighty — families have lost not only shelter but the security that makes life feel normal. Yet, the hearts of Bluefields Bay are hurt but hopeful, ready to rebuild.

A Personal Loss That Fuels This Mission
Among the ruins lies The Salvation Army Basic School, where I learned to write my first letter and read my first scripture. That small school shaped my confidence, my voice, and my faith. Today, it lies in rubble, along with Mearnsville Primary School and other schools and churches. Children now have nowhere safe to learn or recover. This campaign is not just about rebuilding structures — it’s about restoring hope and a sense of belonging.

Homes and Schools: The Heart of Recovery
In Bluefields Bay, home and school are deeply connected. A safe home gives emotional security; a functioning school gives purpose. Without either, both children and adults live in uncertainty and distress. We must rebuild both — because healing and learning begin with stability.

Who We Are and Why We Act
The Rebuild Bluefields Bay Communities Campaign is a grassroots effort led by volunteers and community members. We rebuild with transparency, compassion, and urgency — guided by the belief that resilience is stronger than ruin. Every contribution helps us provide safe homes, rebuild schools, and restore the spirit of a community still in shock.

Restoring Education and Healing Minds
Children are now writing lessons in the dirt. Many show signs of post-traumatic distress, fear, and emotional withdrawal. We will rebuild The Salvation Army Basic School and Mearnsville Primary School as safe, hurricane-resilient spaces where children can learn, heal, and rediscover joy. Education is not just about learning — it’s about rebuilding confidence and community.

How your donation will be spent
• Your donation will help us:
• Rebuild safe, resilient homes
• Reconstruct schools and provide learning materials
• Restore power, water, and communication
• Provide clean water and basic care
• Support emotional recovery and community rebuilding
Every contribution matters. Every act of kindness brings a family closer to safety, a child closer to learning, and a community closer to healing.

A Heartfelt Appeal
Please, help us rebuild Bluefields Bay. Help us restore homes, schools, and peace of mind. Your compassion will not just rebuild walls — it will rebuild lives. Together, we can turn loss into renewal and despair into faith.

Sincerely,
Amoya Roxborough
