<div>This Category 5 storm moved slowly across the island, bringing record-breaking winds, torrential rainfall, storm surges, and deadly landslides.

<div>The scale of devastation is heartbreaking — entire communities have been flattened, and countless families are left without homes, power, or access to clean water.

<div>Critical infrastructure has been severely compromised — including airports, hospitals, roads, and police stations — making relief and recovery efforts extremely difficult.

<div>Westmoreland Parish, in particular, endured some of the most direct impacts — but the entire island of Jamaica has suffered widespread devastation.

<div>Massive flooding and road collapses have cut off communities, while power and communication outages are expected to last for weeks.
</div>
<div>The death toll continues to climb as rescue and relief efforts press on.

<div>Who I Am
</div>
<div>My name is Megan Probst, a Compass South Florida Principal who was born in Jamaica and has family, friends, and colleagues throughout the country — especially in Westmoreland, the region hardest hit by Hurricane Melissa.

<div>Where I’m From
</div>
<div>I was born in Jamaica but now live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
</div>
<div>Our close proximity from South Florida to Jamaica allows us to quickly mobilize resources, supplies, and partnerships to get aid where it’s needed most.

<div>Through our network and connections, we’ve partnered with Food for the Poor, a Jamaican-rooted humanitarian organization with headquarters in Coconut Creek, Florida, and Spanish Town, Jamaica.

<div>Their team members are already on the ground delivering emergency supplies and coordinating with local leaders to assess the most urgent needs.

<div>To respond to this urgent humanitarian crisis, we’ve set up this GoFundMe to collect donations for on-the-ground relief — providing food, clean water, and essential aid to those most in need.

<div>Being born in Jamaica and having lifelong ties across the island, this cause is deeply personal.

<div>My family, friends, and former neighbors are among those whose homes, farms, and livelihoods have been destroyed.
