My name is Lindsay Remmer Perez & my husband is Carlos Perez.
This is for my husbands sister, Rosdaly Perez and her 2 kids David and Danelis, as well as every FAMILY in PUERTO RICO we can help.
Have been wracking my brain now for a week! How do I describe my husbands family MY FAMILY, PUERTO RICO? How do I illustrate the colors of the ocean & rainforest so vivid that if you looked at it now you would question your own eyes. How can I explain the smell of puerto rican food cooking, the unification that San Juan Nights brings every year, or the forevor long Christmas/Three Kings day that automatically makes you feel like a kid again. The last two I can't but I PROMISE, you want on your bucket list!
My husband, daughter and myself have now lived in Puerto Rico for 3 years. This is where we called home, and in our hearts will always be. Puerto Rico and the people of Puerto Rico have taught me that there still is kindness in this world even in the face of tragedy. I have learned that Faith, Love, Hope, and Family can conquer fear, beat cancer, and Smile because tomorrow is a new day!
Our daughter is 5. When she saw the images on tv she asked "mommy is our house flooded?" At that moment I knew our lives and all the lives in Puerto Rico were forever changed. We were lucky that we had went to see family in Las Vegas after HURRICANE IRMA. So all we could do was watch as HURRICANE MARIA slowly made its way to the island.
HURRICANE MARIA has taken the very little that my family had left.
MY GOAL is to relocate my sister in law and her two kids to Las Vegas to be with us and begin a new journey together. Is for them to wake up in the morning and not have to question if there will be power or running water. I want to drive ROSDALY to work without thinking if she has enough gas, and have a job to be proud because she is providing for her family. I want DAVID to go to college and continue his education. To be the best at what he chooses to be, because it isn't a dream anymore, it is a reality. And for my niece DANELIS I want her to keep the love she has for learning forever, to meet new friends and to thrive in her new environment.
The donations will help me to get more items to take back and to help provide as we are there. This fund will help to START OVER as many lives as possible.
Again, I cannot undo the forces of nature, but with your help and support I can help my family START OVER, and give hope to those all over the island. Lets take these painful experiences and turn them into stories of TRIUMPH!
