Hurricane Ida Relief for Joan Strothers
This GoFundMe has been set up on behalf of Joan Strothers who lost her home in Little Falls due to Hurricane Ida. Joan, who is a lifelong Little Falls resident, CERT volunteer and active community member, has unbelievably lost her home for a third time due to a damage from flash flooding.
The first time was in 1999 during Hurricane Floyd where she and her daughters became trapped inside and had to swim through chest deep water with their dog to safety. Her then home was condemned due to foundation damage. After a complete knock down and rebuilding of her home without the benefit of insurance, disaster struck again. In 2018, Joan watched the nightmare unfold for a second time from an upstairs window before she and her senior dog were rescued by boat. That time she lost her car and everything on the main floor and basement of her home and had to make extensive repairs after the home was gutted.
Now unbelievably, just months from retirement, she has lost it all again. Hurricane Ida caused a devastating foundation collapse that left her home uninhabitable. All of her belongings aside from the clothes on her back are unable to be retrieved because of the instability of the house making it too dangerous to enter.
Although insurance will cover a portion of the rebuild, it does not cover the cost of temporary housing and other replacement costs and expenses. Joanie, who is a friend to so many, can really use our help now.
Please donate if you can and help spread the word.
My Sincere Thanks
