Hi my name is Yurly and I’ve been living here for over 20 years. The neighborhood hasn’t changed much and most of my neighbors have seen me grow up.

On September 1st, a little after 9:30pm, many basements and garages on our block started filling with water in the matter of minutes. The water overcame our homes dangerously fast and many were struggling to get to safety, as inside it rose above 4 ft, the driveway looked like a lake, and the street itself flowed like a river with water up to your knees.

Thank God, everyone is safe and all that was lost were material things.

As a long time resident on a block of hard working families of different ethnicities, I wanted to start fundraising for our community. A community of homeowners residing in these houses for 20+ years that had never experienced something like this before.
