Hurricane Help for Humphrey Family

Donation protected
As many of you are aware, Hurricane Florence was devastating to many living in the eastern portion of North Carolina.  One of those families that were caught victim to this storm was our family.  My husband, Joey Humphrey, is originally from Kinston, NC and much of his family still resides in and around that area.  Of his family still living down east, his father and step-mother (Steve and Sharon) have suffered the most lost at this point.  Unfortunately, their home is located in a very flood prone area of Kinston which is close to the Neuse River.  After this hurricane, they have found themselves displaced permanently from their home due to an excess of 6 feet of flood water rising on the property.  Water as high as your waist was found all throughout the home after Hurricane Florence finally vacated the area.  Fortunately, Steven and Sharon had evacuated the home prior to the hurricane and were safe in another family member's home throughout the storm.  Unfortunately,  their home and all of their possessions are a total loss at this point with no expectation of salvaging anything from within the home.   To make matters worse, the home was not insured with flood insurance, so the chance of receiving any monetary compensation from the home is slim to none.

With Joey's father facing "starting over" at close to 70 years old, the need is great for any donation possible to help them to get back on their feet.  At this point, they have some basic necessities like food and clothing, but they are having to rebuild their entire life time worth of belongings.  They are fortunate to have the opportunity to move into a home about 20 minutes from their previous home which was the home of Joey's grandmother who passed away in January of this year.   Since January, the home has been uninhabited and is in need of many repairs as well, but no flood waters threatened the new home.  The home has some very basic appliances and bare bones furniture, but many of the common comforts that make up a home are not available at this time.

We as a family are still blessed with the fact that everyone is safe and physically unharmed by this event and our hearts and prayers are with those families that were left less fortunate than us.  We ask that if you find that you are able to give any kind of monetary donation, we would be extremely grateful and humbled by your kindness.  We ask for prayers for our family as well as all of those affected by the hurricane.  Thank you.
