Hurricane Harvey Victims fundraise

My name is Farid Adhami. I am starting this fundraising to support my dear friend, a couple with their two beloved sons, who bought their dream house in Meadow Glen in Cinco Ranch last year. Just when they were settled in, their new home ended up with 2 feet of water during Hurricane Harvey. Though it does not sound high water, all of the toxic from the water was enough to destroy their furniture, appliances, beds, cabinets, walls. Basically everything that was touched by the water is ruined. That also includes their two cars.

The day after their home was flooded, we ask their permission to start a fundraising, but they did not agree. Their hesitation mainly came from that they were acknowledging that for many people in the greater Houston area the effects of this Hurricane have been worse. They were thankful that no one in their family has been physically injured. For them it felt odd to start a fundraiser when so many people were affected by this storm. However, there are some unpleasant realities that they are beginning to face as the water goes down.  They have to move to a new apartment while fixing their home to be livable again. They need to buy cars, furniture, pay the rent for apartment on top of paying the mortgage for their home. What makes it worse is their flooded home did not have flood insurance as it was not in flooding zone. Of course all of these are in addition to their normal expenses. The estimated cost for all of these is more than 70k and the only potential help for them is from FEMA. Considering all of these, finally they agreed with this fundraising.

We are very grateful for all of the volunteers and friends who have come and still coming and do what they can to help this family, but right now what they need is financial support.
