Given the tragedy that has befallen our fellow citizens in the Greater Houston/Galveston Texas area from Hurricane Harvey's devasting flooding, VAS is planning relief flights there to bring desperately needed supplies via the air. It is not safe to fly there yet. However, as soon as the weather clears VAS is planning to fly in medical supplies, water and other desperately needed essentials to Ellington field in Houston where we are coordinating with relief agencies there to recieve these supples. We have partnered with the Franklin Parish Sheriff's office to bring water supplies to the area. We are very gratefull to Sheriff Kevin Cobb for his support. But we need more help from are friends and neighbors here in Winnsboro in the form of capital to help fund the cost of the missions. We are going to fly as much supplies as we can; however, Aviation fuel and the necessary relief supplies require a significant capital investment. There was a time when Louisiana suffered greatly when Hurrican Katrina hit our shores and our neighbors to the west helped in our time of need. It is our turn now to help the victims of this devastating storm in Texas. So, PLEASE, I hope that our community can dig deep and find it in our hearts to give to this relief effort. I will be giving a significant personal time and financial investment myself. But we need much more than I can do on my own with VAS. No amount is too small. Every little bit helps and is very much appreciated.
If you would like to help with this monumental effort, such as volunteering to load planes call me at my office at the Franklin Medical Center Surgical Clinic. My office staff will get me your message. Your help will be sorely needed.
You will be recieving updates to the relief efforts that we will be undertaking.
Thank you and God bless you ALL, my friends and neighbors.
