Hurricane Harvey Tables

Donation protected
This GoFundMe effort is targeted to benefit victims of Hurricane Harvey, specifically folks that were uninsured or under-insured against the ravages of Harvey.

My wife and I are committed to helping victims of Harvey that may not have had adequate insurance coverage.

We were blessed during Hurricane Harvey, we did not suffer any significant damage, and our hearts go out to those that have been negatively affected. We are striving, in some meaningful way, to make their recovery a little easier.

We have begun by providing FREE Dining Tables and Benches, to victims in the Richmond, TX and Rockport, TX areas. We have made multiple deliveries so far and get more excited each and every time we drop these sets off to folks. Due to the number of victims in Rockport it is expected that the majority of our sets will be given to folks in this area.

We have been self-funding this effort but will have to slow down due to a reduction of resources, so here we are asking for your help.

I am a 72-year-old retiree and my wife is …well not that old. I can build 3 table and bench sets at a time due to space constraints in my shop and our available resources. Our goal is to keep building and supplying our ‘H. harvey series’ tables and benches as our resources will allow and the need remains.

We are not thinking short term. We believe the need for this work will be with us for a few years, if not significantly longer, as those families who were flooded gradually are able to relocate or move back to their renovated homes. This is why we are trying to think of ways to expand our resources.

Though we have built larger tables we have decided to focus on a more reasonable size due to cost and space considerations. The tables will be 42" x 42" square 30" high, with two benches each 42" long by 14" wide and 18" high. The sets will be black base and legs with stained top and seats (colors include Pecan, Colonial Maple, American Walnut and Weathered Grey, with other colors added as we go on).

The cost per table set is approximately $120, so I am trying to have the resources with this ‘GoFundMe’ effort to build 12 more sets.

Funding will be used only to purchase materials and transportation for the sets. Labor is fully donated. I purchase the wood locally from the most reasonable source. To date, I have been able to use my Veterans discount to lower the price of materials and as long as the companies allow me, I will continue to use that benefit. The cost of the sets includes, wood, glue, screws, paint, stain, and other consumables such as sandpaper and rags. The cost per table also includes the cost of the trailer rental I need for delivery of three sets at a time, since they won’t all fit in my truck.

Oh yes, we could use the funds soon, so we can build continuously, thanks so much!!!
