The nightmare is not over in Houston and the surrounding areas. Many people are being flooded out of their houses and the saga of bringing normality back to their lives will be a long and arduous process.
We are raising funds to help with the remediation process. My childhood neighborhood was one of the first places to experience flooding in Houston. At 4 am on Sunday August 27th they had 2 inches of water flowing into the house. By noon they had 3 ft of water. My parents and neighbors evacuated before it became more dire but with the release of additional water into the Buffalo Bayou over the next days the situation is expected to get worse. Some houses are estimated to be under 6 to 8 ft of water.
Once the rains stops and the water recedes, the entire neighborhood will need to initiate the remediation process ASAP. The reality is that contractors will be booked and getting work completed professionally may not be a viable option for everyone. We have ordered over $2,000 worth of supplies headed to Texas now and hope to send more supplies. My brother will be driving the supplies from Austin to Houston.
Our goal is to help people get their houses remediated from water and mold damage as quickly as possible. This does not include new construction or rebuilding their homes.
100% of the money will be used to help people in my community to bounce back once the rain stops.
