Hurricane Harvey #iamthenewUSES

Texas and Louisiana are currently experiencing one of the worst flooding disasters in history by Hurricane Harvey, a massive storm that has left devastation and hopelessness in its wake. Many homes and businesses are flooded or destroyed outright. Scores of people have been forced to abandon their homes and livelihoods, to bide their time in shelters until the water recedes. Lives have been changed in countless and immeasurable ways and the true scale of the power of Hurricane Harvey’s destruction is difficult to understand and will be for many years.

Currently:

·         30 inches: the average amount of rainfall over much of Houston from August 26th-29th

·         51.88 inches: the record setting amount of rainfall received in Cedar Bayou

·         20 trillion: the number of gallons of water that have fallen on Houston and the surrounding area

·         444 square miles: area of Harris County submerged by Harvey’s flooding

·         56,000: calls made to 911 during 15 of the worst hours of flooding (a daily average is 8,000 calls)

·         13,000: the number of people that have been rescued around the state, as of August 30th

·         34,575: the approximate number of evacuees in shelters around the state

·         $75 billion: Harvey’s damage estimate to date, though that number will likely increase

We know some of our employees have lost their homes and have had to begin the difficult task of rebuilding their lives. USES is a great example of resilience and camaraderie and by working together, we can help each other through this tragic time.

Please join our campaign to support our employees that have been directly affected by this natural disaster. All money raised will be given to the employees and their families in need. The sum of all funds raised will be evenly distributed in the form of a Visa card to the employees impacted by the flood.

We would like to thank you in advance for your kind heart, your generosity and your support.
