“GE Houston”- is a composition of five Hampton University graduates and members of the Gamma Epsilon Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. These Omega men and recent collegiate graduates currently identify Houston, TX as their home.
In light of the recent horrendous events of Hurricane Harvey, we as a collective unit feel an obligation to a compelling city that has fully embraced each and every one of us while affording us vast opportunities to showcase our talents in several different capacities throughout the city of Houston. We personally want to take on the challenge of engaging our families, friends, and associates to help raise relief funds to give back to a city that has given so much to us. For all five members of “GE Houston” are not native Houstonians, hailing from the numerous parts of the United States including: Washington, D.C.; Cleveland, Ohio; PG County, Maryland; Chicago, Illinois; and Augusta, Georgia. We as individuals want to show our gratitude towards the city of Houston to exhibit our strong sense of community and the grand passion towards the committal of aiding others in their time of need.
Our efforts of fundraising will be directed towards the children of Houston. Being that “GE Houston”, is comprised of three teachers and two coaches, we see firsthand kids who are about to start or may already be in the midst of a new school year with little to nothing. Our students and players live in some of the most heavily impacted areas of this tragic event. Therefore, we aim to provide basic aide for our kids by acquiring funds to distribute dry clothes, food, and school supplies to properly equip these young scholars for this new school year.
We truly appreciate all of the support we have received lately and many have inquired about how they could help with donations and resources. We are currently working on obtaining a P.O. Box address to receive these donations and resources but that in itself has become a difficult and near impossible task due to the constant rain and flood waters. We encourage those that would like to send materials as of now, to please reach out personally to either: Bryant Pagan II; Christopher Nanton; Randolph Scott Jr.; Tremayne Thomas; or Chris Norwood. Thank you for this will make more of an impact than you can imagine.
