Hurricane Harvey Fund Relief - PA

I am not from Port Aransas...but several friends and clients are.  

One of my best friends taught there almost 30 years. Her Facebook (Melanie Mayer Consulting) post this week began like this, with an excerpt from a poem by Naomi Shihab Nye:

"Before you know what kindness really is 
you must lose things,
feel the future dissove in a moment
like salt in a weakened broth.
What you held in your hand,
what you counted and carefully saved,
all this must go so you know
how desolate the landscape can be
between the regions of kindness."

Teachers know what kindness is.  They show it every single day...AND now they need it.  The teachers in PA, Aransas, Rockport, Aransas Pass, Refugio - maybe other places as well - they have lost everything they own.  I know this to be true because I saw it in Port Aransas with my own eyes.  I cannot just sit by...

We have started an account to help teachers rebuild their lives:  To help them buy the things they need to survive now; to pay expenses while they wait for FEMA or loans to come through; to help them get back into a home with clothes to wear and food to eat; to help them get back to their lives.

How many times have we seen teachers love, protect and bless their students at great personal sacrifice, show our students such kindness, simply because the child needed it:

It is their turn now...our teachers need us now!

Naomi Nye says in her poem, " You must see how this could be you." Yes.
