Hurricane Harvey fund for Cremonas

My husband's brother and his family - Troy Cremona, Kelly Cremona and their three children - live in the canyon gate neighborhood of cinco ranch. They had evacuated their home and will likely not be able to come back for several more weeks. As you may have heard on the news, this was one of the first neighborhoods that was impacted by the Barker reservoir during Hurricane Harvey and may take several weeks for the water to recede. Troy and Kelly have lost everything and are not able to even begin the recovery process. I know many In the Houston area facing difficulties after the storm, but please read their story.

Any amount helps! Funds will be used to support the family through this time and towards acquiring necessities, furniture, vehicles etc (they lost everything!) I am in daily contact with Kelly and will direct the funds to her account.

The following is Kelly's account of her family's experience during the disaster:

My name is Kelly and I am a hurricane victim. The hurricane rains came in and never stopped. On Friday, the rain water was in the streets. When we woke up Saturday morning, the flood waters were halfway up my driveway. There was no way out. My husband and I started frantically trying to pack our 3 backpacks of clothes. We left everything behind. We live in a one story and tried getting as much up as we could up. Our 2 young children were scared. We put life jackets on the kids and stood on our porch waiting for help for hours. Motorized boats could not get to us because there was dry land in the middle of my neighborhood. A man with a blow-up raft came when the water was right at our porch. We loaded the kids, dogs, and myself into the raft. My husband and the man pushed us in waist deep water to the dry part. Mia, my 4-year-old, was screaming, "Mama, Mama". Luca, my 7-year-old, was crying. While we were standing at the dry part, another man came from Mason Road with a blow-up air mattress. We put the kids on the mattress and started pushing them towards Mason in chest deep water. My husband was carrying our biggest dog, tripped on something, and went under water. My kids were just crying and crying. Then a motorized boat came and got us out of the water and took us to where the Army Corps were. There they took us to a truck and then a shelter. As this was happening, we had to leave Emily, my 14-year-old, behind in the neighborhood at a friend's house because I couldn't get to her. I got a call from her at 8:30 pm that she was being picked up by boat. She was so scared and was in the dark. She was dropped off at a gas station and waited under the awning until her dad got to her. It's been 6 days and I have not been reunited with her. The rest of my family is in Austin now and I have stayed back with a friend to get things done. This has been very overwhelming and hopefully we will be able to get to our home in 3-5 weeks.
