Hurricane Irma Fund - St Johns VI

My name is Alison Nelson , my grandson Justin Smith, sailed his boat to Coral Bay in St Johns, US Virgin Islands, on Sept 3, believing Hurricane Irma would be veering to the North as forecast.  Instead  Irma took a more southerly direction and his and all other boats were demolished in the storm.  Houses were lost in the storm, mudslides everywhere, cars upside down, and no power.

 I live in Ct and with the impending storm hitting the Florida coast I cannot get there to help.  We are trying to raise funds to provide basic needs to Justin and the people of St Johns VI.  Personally Justin's boat, Jasaru was his home and all was lost in 50 feet of water.  He refuses to leave the island but is insisting on staying there to help everyone else.  He said they have some water and there are chickens on the island.   The purpose of setting up this page is to help him to try to get food supplies and basic needs shipped to the the island which is about 100 miles from Puerto Rico.  Also if anyone has any equipment such as diving tanks,  air compressors, pumps, and building supplies, that too is needed.  We have not yet been able to get pictures, but we all have seen the news feed of the devistation in the northern Carribean islands, and it is truly heart breaking.

We are asking for help with funding in response to the outpouring of the public support and interest in helping. An initial goal of  $5000  to get food and supplies to the island would help pay for those items and cost of transportation, but any amount large or small will help.  Justin's friend Sher-Kay Conklin is in Puerto Rico trying to make arrangements to get help from local boaters in the transportation of these supplies.  These people are hurting and we would appreciate your help in our efforts to assist them.
