@IJaysanchez's Hurricane Eta Garifuna Relief Fund

There is devastation in my home country, Honduras.

I am asking for help in providing life-saving aid for my family and friends.

My name is Ilbert J Sanchez (@IJaySanchez ) CEO and Co-Founder of Garçon Couture , a fashion brand that specializes in luxury clothing. I am a proud Garifuna man, born in Honduras.  I am from heavily populated and underserved Garifuna villages, such as Nueva Armenia, Santa Rosa De Aguan, and Triunfo De La Cruz, in addition to mixed-populated villages of Progreso, San Pedro Sula, and La Lima, - all areas that were directly impacted by Hurricane Eta, Category 4. These are areas that are less likely to receive immediate government assistance. My family and friends have lost access to their homes and all essentials. They are already battling Covid-19, and ongoing neo-colonialism, and now a natural disaster.

Hurricane Eta hit the coast of Nicaragua on November 3, 2020 as a Category 4

Overall, 2 million people have been affected in Central America, and I’m asking for your help to directly support 30 families in Honduras. This strenuating situation is applying much stress to all, especially the sensitive demographics of children and seniors.

The entire country of Honduras is on an indefinite Red Alert. The land is literally sliding, nine rivers are overflowing, 10 bridges have caved in, hundreds of homes have been flooded, and nearly 3,000 people have been displaced, many awaiting rescue from rooftops. Communication is poor due to frequent power outages.

People are without jobs and incomes. They are without life-saving foods and medicine. They are without shelter and clothes, but they are not without hope. You can help.

I want to be able to provide an opportunity for them to get back on their feet sooner than later.

Your donation will help with ongoing post-disaster relief and recovery.

Funds will be allocated toward purchases and shipment of the following:

$3K - Barrels of non-perishable food items

$5K - Clothes for adults and children (Shipped from NY to designated towns in Honduras)

$5K - Medicinal needs (diabetes, sickle cell, covid testing, high blood pressure, waterborne disease, prenatal care)

$3K - Transportation to hospitals, schools, work

$9K - Purchasing of beds, household supplies, cabinets, computers, construction, electronic connections (WiFi), landline and mobile phones

Please join me by helping to restore hope and motivation in Garifuna villages of Honduras. I will be in direct contact with each of my family members and friends - keeping track of every need, and managing the delivery of all essentials. It pains me to see my relatives suffering throughout this life-threatening tragedy, but with your contribution - we can make a difference. Thank you so much for your continued support.
