Hurr. Relief for St. Croix Farmers

Donation protected
Thank you for allowing me to share my immediate vision and desire to help my fellow neighbors and friends on St. Croix. There has been little media coverage on the US Virgin Islands so bare with me as I share:

On approx. Sept. 6, category 5 Hurricane Irma ravaged the US Virgin Islands, especially St. Thomas and St. John....huge damage and thousands of US citizens left without property, food or shelter. St. Croix, although sustaining damage, we became the center for relief to the other islands.

Local farms, immediately stepped forward before any government agency to begin gathering food and supplies for our sister islands. One farm, in particular, Sejah Farms, took the lead and within a couple of days, gathered food containers for over 200 families to be shipped over to St. Thomas. This family-owned farm donated all of their produce from the farm and collected from other smaller farms throughout the island. I personally helped them fill these bags and shared their love and concern for others. St. Croix was going to be the landing center for all help coming to the islands and even cruise ships were being rerouted here.

And then, on September 19, Hurricane Maria hit St. Croix with a vengeance. I hope I never have to experience another storm of such wrath. I endured both storms alone as my husband was in Colorado....Irma seemed like a cake walk compared to Maria. But this isn't about me. This wonderful family owned farm who had just donated all of their produce just days before, faced total destruction. Not only did they lose all of their fields, trees, much of their livestock, outbuildings and greenhouses, they were victims of looting at the farm. Their personal home, although the roof held, all windows and doors were blown out and the entire interior of their home was flooded. My heart breaks for them. They will rebuild but they need help.....they need shelter, a generator and they need literally "seed" money so they can replant.

Since I moved to the island, I have supported the local farms and every Saturday visited the farmers market to buy local produce from small gardeners. Unless they can replant, we will have nothing to support or produce to buy. There is a shortage of generators and it will be months before power is restored....no power, means no electricity, cell or internet.

I want to help and I am here boots on the ground. I want to raise money to help these farmers get up and running again....generators, seeds and supplies.

Thank you..... dream.....looking at amazing sunrises and sunsets every day.

Keep inspiring others!
