Hurley Class of 2009 Suicide Prevention Mission

Donation protected
Our Hurley Class of 2009 10 year reunion is coming up this summer. Instead of just the normal reunion activities and shenanigans, we wanted to use this time to help make a difference regarding issues that hit deeply close to home for our class - suicide and depression. We tragically lost two beloved members of our class as victims to suicide - John Kutz (2010) and Cody Cunico (2016).

Attending a K-12 school with a small class of 48 people, you don't really have a choice but to get to know everyone in your class on a personal level. You're around the same kids 9 months out of the year for 14 years. So when we lost two of our classmates to suicide, it is easy to understand how each and every one of us were devastated and forever impacted by their loss. With our 10 year reunion coming up and knowing they won't be there, it felt necessary to try and make a difference in their memory.

The Hurley Class of 2009 is teaming up with Pat Gallinagh and the Gogebic Range Suicide Prevention Council to promote our mission to raise money for suicide prevention and they will be receiving 100% of our donations. This money will help provide resources to help save lives of those in our community and neighboring communities.  The Gogebic Range Suicide Prevention Council is a Non-Profit made up entirely of volunteers so you can be assured every dollar that is donated will directly help make a difference in someones life. We will be presenting a check to the Gogebic Range Suicide Prevention Council at our class reunion this summer (date pending).

John and Cody were both amazing people and friends to many. They both had personalities that were magnetic and were kind hearted to everyone they came across. With something so tragic overcoming two great people, we understand the reality and gravity of suicide and depression. It does not discriminate and can affect anyone. This is why we are putting forth these efforts in their memory.

We miss them both everyday and they will stay in our hearts forever. Rest In Peace,  John & Cody.

Please consider donating; every dollar counts. If you’re not able to donate, please share to spread awareness. We thank you all in advance for supporting our cause.
