Eight years ago, The Huntington News – Northeastern University’s nonprofit, student-run newspaper – became a nonprofit organization, independent from the university. We have attempted to sustain ourselves financially without Northeastern’s support. With printing, rent and utilities costs, however, the financial burden has become too much for The News to stand on its own. We’ve come to a tipping point in our debt, and now we must reach out to friends, family and alumni for support.

The Huntington News is not a luxury; it is a necessity. We are the only barrier between fact and ambiguous half-truths at this school. We have worked to build the Northeastern community by writing about university events, Boston happenings and Northeastern policy. With a circulation of 4,500 newspapers printed on campus and a news website, our reporting is the most objective source of information that reaches students. The News is by the students, and it is for the students.

The future of The Huntington News – the best resource for Northeastern news and the best outlet for journalism students to hone their craft – is unclear until we settle this debt. Please donate to us so that we can continue to bring you the news that our university needs.
