Hunley's BulliesFighting Cancer English Bulldog Style!
Hunley is a very special English Bulldog. She's only 4, but on March 24 was diagnosed with B cell lymphoma. The good news is that this type of Lymphoma responds really well to chemotherapy, the bad side is, it's very expensive. Her initial treatment was $1,266!
Her vet is following the Wisconsin Protocol which sounds complicated and it is. It involves multiple intravenous chemotherapy drugs given 1 week apart for about 16 weeks. Dogs get a weekly chemotherapy injection every 4 weeks with a week off on between (so the protocol takes 20 weeks). The cost is about $400- $550 per treatment (depending on which drug is used that week). The total cost of the protocol would be $6500- $8000. The down side for this option with Hunley is mainly cost. This is the most effective treatment option for lymphoma. Dogs can also have low blood cell counts as a result of the chemotherapy treatment, so they check a complete blood count prior to administering the drug therapy.
Any many we are able to raise will go directly to pay Hunley's expensive vet bills. Obviously, this is something that has to be started immediately, so the need right now is great.
Hunley is a special family member to a very dear friend of mine. Her daughter, son-in-law and grandson are very sad and really want Hunley to get better, as we all do. Nissa, Hunley's human mother, is doing everything she can to make Hunley happy and comfortable. Any help we can get to pay her bills will be such a relief to this wonderful family.
If you love dogs, bulldogs, or just want to help a special family, please consider giving. We continue to pray daily that Hunley will respond well to treatment and can beat this. She is only 4, which is very young. She's also adorable. Hunley enjoys eating, taking naps, visits to petsmart, eating, naps, short walks, eating, naps, her spa day, eating, naps, etc. She is extremely spoiled, as she should be!
Thank you in advance for even reading about Hunley and her special family.
