<div>Wij, Aniek Daya en Dieuwertje, lopen sinds kort stage bij Mlacha Advocates &amp; Associates in Arusha, Tanzania. Dit advocatenkantoor richt zich specifiek op het beschermen van mensenrechten binnen dit land.

<div>Aanstaande vrijdag geven we een presentatie over mensenrechten aan maar liefst 500 meisjes van de St. Josephs Ngarenaro Girls Secondary School. Tijdens de voorbereiding raakten we enorm geraakt door de verhalen en de positie van vrouwen en meisjes hier. Zij verkeren binnen de lokale cultuur in een kwetsbare positie en basisrechten, zoals onderwijs, zelfbeschikking en vrijheid van meningsuiting zijn allesbehalve vanzelfsprekend. Praktijken zoals kinderhuwelijken, meisjesbesnijdenis en huiselijk geweld spellen helaas vandaag de dag hier nog steeds een grote rol.

<div>We willen deze meisjes laten zien wat ze allemaal in zich hebben, en – misschien nog wel belangrijker – hen bewust maken van de rechten die ze hebben!

<div>Daarnaast zamelen we geld in om schoolspullen (zoals schriften en pennen) én  menstruatieproducten te kopen. Elke bijdrage, groot of klein, helpt ons om deze meisjes te ondersteunen en hun toekomst te versterken!
