Human Rights Cup 2019

Donation protected
The late UN General Secretary Kofi Annan said "Sports are the universal language... it can bring people together, no matter what their origin, background, religious beliefs or economic status." Through football, the Human Rights Cup will bring people together across boundaries, cultures and religions to promote peace, tolerance and understanding.

Human Rights Cup 2019, the second edition, will be held from 1st -10th December in Cape Town, South Africa to commemorate the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights from 1948. This tournament will be a celebration of culture, community, diversity, and people.  Last years Human Rights Cup was hosted in Johannesburg, South Africa with the Blue Ladies winning the women's tournament, and the Malandela Mighty Heros winning the men's. The 2018 version was a big success and this year we are hoping to build off of that.

To hear about my experience attending the first edition in 2018 with the Matabeleland Football Confederacy team, please read this article series- https://mysoccerpilgrimage.wordpress.com/2019/03/30/matabeleland-and-their-human-rights-cup-odyssey-part-1/

Support of the fundraiser will ensure transportation, food, and housing for teams traveling to Cape Town from countries and cities all over Southern Africa.
