HULL KR FANS MARQUEE PLAYER FUNDRAISER
Objective?
This initiative is 100% conceived and driven by Paul White and Graham Dunford, organisers who are both passionate fans of Hull Kingston Rovers (Hull KR). We want to raise funds to give to the Rovers Supporters Group (the RSG) to pass on to Hull KR to acquire a ‘Marquee Player’ (++) in line with Rugby Football League (RFL) and Super League definitions or a suitable alternative elite ‘High Quality Player.’ (++)

All funds generously donated by fans and followers of Hull KR through this initiative will be withdrawn from the Fundraiser by the RSG (Rovers Supporters Group) and held by them in their bank account. The RSG will onward transfer these "ringfenced" funds to Hull KR on request, once they have identified a player to sign who meets this specific team strengthening objective.
Before we launched this Fundraiser, the organisers spoke to the club and to the RSG to make them aware of our intentions. Aside from wanting endorsement from both, we had to ensure there is no conflict of interest with other plans they have. Above all, we all needed confirmation that any money we raise here falls outside the strict salary cap rules of the RFL, the governing body of Rugby League.
Why do it?
In simple terms - we want to offer an opportunity for fans of HKR to do their bit in helping to improve the team’s fortunes on the park. To do this, we want to ensure all funds you donate here are given to the RSG to transfer on to HKR to sign a Marquee Player or qualifying High Quality Player.
The Rovers faithful want to see their team on the up again this season, next season and beyond. By raising a new dimension of fallback funding for the club from fan donations, we hope to assist the club to attract the very best talent as described and compete on a more level playing field with other clubs in Super League.
After a decade of stagnation in Rugby League Super League with more lows than highs and a relegation to the Championship thrown in, the club has recognised a need for change in many areas. The Chairman along with our new Head Coach have this year unveiled a clear strategy to improve, invest in and enhance many elements of on and off field operations. They weren't considering this option due to other financial priorities.
To deliver on this plan and re-establish itself as a force in Super League once more, Hull KR needs their new improvement strategy to be delivered. This Fundraiser offers a unique opportunity to you as the fans and followers of Hull KR to do your bit to help the club through donating extra funds to bring in elite talent in the form of a Marquee Player or High Quality Player to strengthen the squad.
More successes on the pitch at Super League level will benefit club and fans alike, generate more match day revenue, attract more fans to Hull KR and provide a much-needed boost to positivity and well-being in all areas including at community level.

How much and how soon?
We want to raise £100,000 ASAP and by the end of 2019 if possible. We will run the campaign on for longer if we feel it's necessary. That said, it's important our donations can put the RSG in a position as quickly as possible to help HKR make that quality Marquee signing as and when required.
Hull Kingston Rovers is the Pride of East Hull and the beating heart of the East Hull community. It delivers a real community identity and ethos. To its fans, it is special and to the club the fans are special. Hull KR regularly attracts average home crowds exceeding 8000. We have over 6500 loyal regular season pass holders. We have a thriving ex-players association and lots of ardent overseas fans and followers. We are hoping to tap into the loyalty, passion and sentiment the Rovers fans feel for our beloved club wherever they are. We really need total commitment and support to enable Hull KR to become a force once more in Super League and Rugby League.
Ideally, we hope at least 50% (over 4000) of our average home crowd will want to donate. It can be done. If you can afford, please give generously and LET’S DO OUR BIT.

How to Donate

The main donation mechanism is via this dedicated Crowdfunding Initiative on GoFundme. GoFundme accept multiple means of payment by card and bank transfer in several popular currencies. Please be aware that GoFundme do not charge a platform or hosting fee. However, they do charge a processing and handling fee of 2.9% for payment processing and safe transfer of funds to the beneficiary bank account (the RSG). SCOPE AND TERMS OF AGREEMENT
By donating you ARE AWARE of and AGREE to the following terms:
a. This agreement exists between the Organisers, the Rovers Supporters Group (in the rest of this agreement RSG), HULL KINGSTON ROVERS (in the rest of this agreement HKR) and HKR FANS and FOLLOWERS (the Donors).
b. HKR will not be held responsible for the failure of this agreement.
c. The RSG will receive into their bank account the withdrawal of funds donated here and transfer same funds to HKR on request to sign an identified Marquee or High Quality Player.
d. HKR will endeavour to acquire a suitable player to meet defined criteria, chosen by the Head Coach at any time during the duration of this agreement.
e. No individual or collective can form an objection to any player identified by HKR that the Head Coach has deemed worthy of meeting the stated criteria.
f. If sufficient funds cannot be raised for a Marquee Player (in the rest of this agreement MP) as defined by the RFL and Super League, the FUNDS RAISED WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE to assist in the signing of an equivalent elite 'High Quality Player' (in the rest of this agreement HQP), even if this player does not command an annual MP salary in excess of £150,000.
g. This agreement exists for the sole purpose of providing the funds to assist in the acquisition of any suitable qualifying MP or HQP Rugby League player meeting the criteria detailed above.
h. The Head Coach of HKR will deem any acquisition to ‘significantly’ improve the squad in the short term.
i. Should a MP not be available by definition, you as donors agree the funds raised, can be used at the discretion of the head coach to sign a suitable elite HQP. The definition of an elite HQP would simply be, any player the COACH deems to be of MP quality but does not command a salary in excess of £150,000 per year.
j. You will not receive any reward for any contribution made to HKR as part of this agreement. You will receive a note of thanks for your donation contribution from the organisers even if you have opted to make your donation totally anonymous to the public.
k. Hull Kingston Rovers (HKR) will aim to guarantee that any funds raised will be used for the sole purpose of acquiring a Rugby League player as defined above, chosen by the incumbent Head Coach Tony Smith or whoever holds the title at time of acquisition.
l. In the event a suitable qualifying MP or HQP does not become available for either season 2020 or 2021, the organisers will allow the RSG to reassign all funds withdrawn and held by them for the sole benefit of the future general acquisition of players or squad strengthening by HKR.
m. The primary objective is to achieve a funds donation target of at least £100k to pass on to HKR to sign a suitable qualifying MP or HQP defined above and during Super League seasons 2020 / 2021.
n. HKR will endeavour to fulfil this objective within RFL salary cap rules and subject to availability of a player that meets the definition set out by the RFL/Super League for ‘Marquee Player’ or 'High-Quality Player'. In the event the primary objective is not achieved, a DEFAULT ACTION PLAN as set out below is then activated.
Default Action Plan
If no such qualifying player becomes available by the conclusion of season 2021, the donation organisers would deem this agreement to have failed. In this event the following default action plan and agreement will then come into effect.
1. The RSG will continue to retain any funds raised in the above initial agreement.
2. The RSG will make available funds raised for HKR team strengthening based upon the wishes of the Head Coach at that time.
3. HKR will still request the funds through the RSG.
4. Most importantly under the terms of this default agreement, there is no stipulation as to the quality of player/players that HKR purchase with any requested funds at the time.
5. Clause 4 above is the new 'default action plan' variation clause only. HKR are totally committed to fulfilling the initial agreement and primary MP/HQP signing objective.
