Here is another family - much like yours - in need of hugs and help as they deal with the devastating diagnosis of Stage 4 cancer.
Jimmy Bell - hard working, fun loving, family man. Loving husband of Mary Helms Bell and father to their children. He's a proud son of a US veteran too, and has served as Commander of the Sons of the American Legion for nearly a decade. Jim graduated from New Buffalo Area High School, and he and his family have lived in New Buffalo, MI their whole lives
But just when he should be thinking of golden years, he's hit with a diagnosis of cancer. Having done physical labor all these years as a cement truck driver, he's not going to be able to work. His wife, a restaurant server, has had to quit her job to take care of him.
They are worried about the treatments, the bills, and their household. How are average people supposed to handle all of this? This is where friends, family and community can reach out to help. We are also going to have a fundraiser event for them. On Monday May 4, 2015 we'll gather at the New Buffalo American Legion hall from 5 to 10pm for a "BBQ for Jimmy". Jim and Mary have been famous over the years for their backyard picnics, so we're going to throw one for them. Come and join us for some more fun, food, friendship and music!
